# In Detail: Guardian Node Rewards & Locking Program

## Who this guide is for

If you hold a Mawari Guardian Node License, this guide is for you. It walks through the rewards you can earn, how token locking works, and the actions you need to take, and when, to make the most of the program.

#### **At a Glance**

As a Guardian Node License holder you can earn from three programs: **Node Operation Rewards, Activation Rewards,** and **Locking Rewards**. Locking what you earn opens a daily reward pool, and the more you lock, and the longer you keep it locked, the faster your share grows.

**The single number to remember: 70%.** If you have ever claimed Activation Rewards, keep at least 70% of all the mawari tokens you have ever claimed locked. That keeps your monthly Activation Rewards flowing and qualifies you for Locking Rewards.

#### ***Legal Disclaimer***

*Nothing in this document should be read or interpreted as a guarantee or promise of how the mawari token price will increase or decrease, or of how any floor price is determined.*

*All rewards described here are compensation for work performed in support of the Mawari Network. They are not investments, securities, dividends, interest, or passive income, and no reward is earned without the corresponding work. Reward rates, pool sizes, schedules, and program rules may change as the network develops. Participation is at your own discretion. This document is provided for information only and is not financial, legal, or tax advice. Consult your own advisors before participating.*

*These programs are designed to support network operation, onboarding, and security. They are not savings, lending, deposit, staking-as-a-service, or investment programs. Locking mawari tokens does not guarantee any return, income, profit, token price, liquidity, or resale value. Rewards, if any, depend on protocol rules, user actions, network conditions, eligibility, and compliance.* <br>

## 1. The Reward Programs

As a Guardian Node License holder you may be eligible for rewards from three programs. Each has its own rules, schedule, and eligibility.

<table data-header-hidden><thead><tr><th width="112.35546875"></th><th width="227.46875"></th><th width="200.5859375"></th><th></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Program</strong></td><td><strong>What It Is</strong></td><td><strong>Schedule</strong></td><td><strong>Who is Eligible</strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Node Operation Rewards</strong></td><td><p>Compensation for operating, or delegating, a compliant Guardian Node. It is paid in two forms: </p><p><strong>Early Operator Incentives</strong></p><p> (a token allocation per license for reliable operation during the network’s early years) and </p><p><strong>Network Monitoring Rewards</strong></p><p> (compensation for ongoing network-health monitoring work).</p></td><td>Early Operator Incentives: daily, across the first 3 years of operation. Network Monitoring Rewards: ongoing, once network revenue begins.</td><td>All Guardian Node License holders operating a compliant node.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Activation Rewards</strong></td><td>A fixed allocation of mawari tokens for early supporters, in recognition of the onboarding work of getting ready to operate. Paid out in 12 monthly portions.</td><td>Monthly, across the first 12 months after mainnet.</td><td>DIO Season 1 holders only (Season 1 ended December 2025).</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Locking Rewards</strong></td><td>A daily reward pool shared among everyone holding locked mawari tokens, weighted by locking power.</td><td>Daily, ongoing.</td><td>Guardian Node holders with locked tokens.</td></tr></tbody></table>

This guide focuses on the two programs that depend on active decisions you make month to month: **Activation Rewards** and **Locking Rewards**. Node Operation Rewards arrive automatically as long as your node meets the network’s uptime and verification standards.

### Node Operation Rewards in brief

**Early Operator Incentives** reward the work of running reliable nodes through the network’s bootstrapping years: a token allocation per license, earned daily by nodes that meet uptime and heartbeat-verification standards, across the first three years.

**Network Monitoring Rewards** compensate operators for the continuing work of monitoring network health and performance. The pool for this work is set at 20% of network revenue and scales as network activity grows. Operators are paid for verified monitoring work, in proportion to their contribution. Neither form is a payout for simply holding a license. Both require an operating, compliant node.

## 2. Activation Rewards

Activation Rewards are a one-time, time-limited program for DIO Season 1 holders. They are paid in 12 equal monthly portions, but only if you meet the locking requirement each month.

#### **Are You Eligible?**

**Yes,** if you acquired your Guardian Node License during DIO Season 1, which ended in December 2025.

**No,** if you joined after DIO Season 1. You can still earn Node Operation Rewards and Locking Rewards.

#### **How much do you earn?**

Your total Activation Reward is based on the number of Guardian Node Licenses you hold. The more you hold, the higher the reward per license. Your total is then divided into 12 equal monthly portions.

<table data-header-hidden><thead><tr><th width="146.203125"></th><th width="121.55859375"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Licenses Held</strong></td><td><strong>Tokens per License</strong></td></tr><tr><td>1–9</td><td>10</td></tr><tr><td>10–24</td><td>25</td></tr><tr><td>25–34</td><td>50</td></tr><tr><td>35–49</td><td>80</td></tr><tr><td>50–99</td><td>90</td></tr><tr><td>100–199</td><td>100</td></tr><tr><td>200–299</td><td>125</td></tr><tr><td>300–399</td><td>150</td></tr><tr><td>400–499</td><td>175</td></tr><tr><td>500~</td><td>200</td></tr></tbody></table>

> **Example 1** If you hold 12 licenses, you fall in the 10–24 band and earn 25 tokens per license. That is 300 tokens in total, distributed as 25 tokens per month across 12 months.

### **The Locking Requirement**

To claim each month’s portion, you must keep at least 70% of all the mawari token you have ever claimed locked on the Mawari Network. Everything you have claimed counts: Activation Rewards, Node Operation Rewards, and Locking Rewards.

> **Example 2** You claim 100 tokens in Month 1. To claim your Month 2 portion, at least 70 of those tokens must still be locked. In Month 2 you claim another 100 tokens (200 claimed in total). To claim Month 3, at least 140 tokens, which is 70% of 200, must be locked.

### The 90-day grace period (Months 1, 2, and 3)

During the first three months you have a 90-day window to catch up, so that no one loses early rewards because of late onboarding. Here is exactly how it works:

* **Claim Months 1, 2, and 3 at any point within the 90-day window**, as long as you meet the 70% locking requirement at the time of each claim.
* **Claims must be made in order.** If you claim Month 1, skip Month 2, then claim Month 3, the Month 2 portion is lost. You cannot go back for it afterward.

After Month 3, the grace period ends. From Month 4 onward, any month you miss is permanently lost, even if you re-qualify later.

> **Important: do not skip months**\
> Even during the grace period, skipping a month forfeits that month’s reward once you claim a later one. Always claim Months 1, 2, and 3 in order, or claim all three before the 90-day window closes.

### What if I miss a month after Month 3?

You keep your place in the program. You can still:

* Claim the remaining future months, as long as you meet the 70% locking requirement at the time.
* Keep earning Locking Rewards on whatever you have locked.

But the specific month you missed is gone. It cannot be claimed later, even if you re-qualify.

### How to claim each month

1. **Check your locked balance.** Confirm at least 70% of everything you have ever claimed is still locked.
2. **Open the claim interface** during the month’s claim window.
3. **Confirm the transaction** from your wallet.
4. **Lock the new tokens (recommended).** Adding them to your locked balance maintains or grows your locking power and keeps you eligible next month.

***

## 3. Locking Rewards

Locking Rewards are the heart of the program. Every day, a fixed pool of mawari token is shared among everyone holding locked tokens. Your share depends on your locking power: not just how much you have locked, but how long you have kept it locked, and at what tier.

### How your daily reward is calculated

Each day the system performs a simple proportional split:

**Your daily reward = Daily pool × ( Your locking power ÷ Total locking power of all participants )**
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So two things grow your share: increasing your own locking power, and being one of fewer participants in the pool. You only control the first.

### What is locking power?

Locking power is a virtual figure that starts equal to the amount you lock, then grows a little every day. Each day’s growth builds on the day before, so it accumulates faster the longer you stay locked at a higher tier. The daily growth rate depends on which tier you are in.

### The three tiers: Root, Grove, Canopy

In a Satoyama, the landscape has layers. Roots anchor everything below ground. The grove grows the canopy above. The canopy shelters the whole ecosystem below. The Locking Program works the same way: three tiers, each a deeper level of commitment. Your tier is recalculated every day from your locking ratio, which is how much you have locked compared with everything you have ever claimed.\ <br>

<table data-header-hidden><thead><tr><th width="91.80078125"></th><th width="136.41796875"></th><th width="145.56640625"></th><th></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Tier</strong></td><td><strong>Locking Ratio</strong></td><td><strong>Daily Growth</strong></td><td><strong>What it Means</strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Root</strong></td><td>Above 0%, below 85%</td><td><strong>+0.5% per day</strong></td><td>The foundation. Any amount of locking puts you at least here. Baseline growth for everyone who locks.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Grove</strong></td><td>85% to 99%</td><td><strong>+0.6% per day</strong></td><td>Most of what you have claimed is locked. Faster growth.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Canopy</strong></td><td>Exactly 100%</td><td><strong>+0.7% per day</strong></td><td>Everything you have ever claimed is locked. The highest growth rate.</td></tr><tr><td>Not locking</td><td>0%</td><td>—</td><td>Nothing locked. No growth, and no Locking Rewards.</td></tr></tbody></table>

<p><strong>Tiers are checked daily, not locked in</strong></p><p>Your tier is recalculated each day from your current locking ratio. Drop below 100% and you move to Grove on the next cycle. Drop below 85% and you fall to Root. You can climb back at any time by locking more, and the higher growth rate applies again from the next day onward.</p>
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

### How tier changes feel in practice

* **Locking more.** Your locked amount rises immediately, and your tier and daily growth update on the next daily cycle.
* **Unlocking.** Your locked amount drops by the unlocked quantity, and you lose the locking power tied to those tokens. Your tier is reassessed on the next cycle.
* **Doing nothing.** Your locked amount stays the same, and your locking power keeps growing daily at your current tier’s rate.

### What the tiers add up to over time

Because locking power grows daily, the gap between tiers widens over time. Two illustrations, both starting from the same tokens:

* **Lock 100 tokens once and hold for a year.** At Root, your locking power reaches roughly 617. At Grove, roughly 888. At Canopy, roughly 1,276.
* **Lock 100 tokens every month for twelve months.** Root reaches roughly 3,705. Grove reaches roughly 4,776. Canopy reaches roughly 6,208. Each month’s locking compounds on the months before, and the tier rate amplifies every layer.

Same tokens, same starting point. The difference is the level of commitment.

## 4. How it All Fits Together

The simplest way to think about the program: claim, lock, repeat. Here is the cycle most participants will follow.

### The monthly cycle

1. **Day 1 of the month: your Activation Reward becomes claimable** (Season 1 holders only). Before claiming, confirm at least 70% of everything you have ever claimed is still locked.
2. **Claim your Activation Reward.** The new tokens land in your wallet.
3. **Decide how much to lock.** To stay at Canopy, lock 100%. To stay at Grove, lock at least 85%. To stay eligible for next month’s Activation Reward at all, lock at least 70%.
4. Through the month, collect daily Locking Rewards. These accrue automatically from your locking power. Claim them daily, or whenever suits you.
5. Repeat next month. Each claim raises your total-ever-claimed figure, which raises the amount you need locked to hold your ratio above each threshold.

### The participation effect of staying at Canopy

Because locking power grows daily, the gap between tiers grows over time. A participant who stays at Canopy (+0.7% per day) for a year ends with substantially more locking power than one who stays at Root (+0.5% per day) on the same locked amount, and therefore takes a meaningfully larger share of every day’s reward pool.<br>

## 5. Common scenarios

**These examples show only relative allocation weight, not token returns, dollar value, yield, or expected profit.**&#x20;

### Scenario A: highest participation

You are a Season 1 holder and want to maximize everything. Each month: claim your Activation Reward, lock 100% of it, and never unlock. You stay at the Canopy tier (+0.7% per day) the entire time, take the largest share of the daily Locking Reward pool, and qualify for every monthly Activation Reward portion.

### Scenario B: partial liquidity

You need some tokens available but still want strong rewards. After each claim, lock 85% and keep 15% free. You stay at the Grove tier (+0.6% per day) and remain eligible for the next Activation Reward. You give up the Canopy rate but keep the Grove boost.

### Scenario C: Activation eligibility only

You want enough locked to keep collecting Activation Rewards, with flexibility otherwise. Lock exactly 70% after each claim. You stay eligible for Activation Rewards and earn Locking Rewards at the Root tier (+0.5% per day), the baseline rate, with more tokens free to use.

### Scenario D: recovering from a missed month

You missed Month 5’s Activation Reward because your locked amount fell below 70% that month. Month 5 is gone for good. To resume from Month 6, lock enough to bring your ratio back above 70% before the Month 6 claim window. You can then claim Months 6 through 12 normally.

### Scenario E: briefly dropping out of Canopy

You unlock 10% of your tokens to handle a personal need, dropping from 100% to 90% locked. The next day you move from Canopy (+0.7%) to Grove (+0.6%). A week later you re-lock those tokens. The day after, you are back at Canopy and resume +0.7% daily growth. No permanent penalty, just the lower rate for the days you were below.

## 6. Key Terms

**Reward Tokens** — The total of every $mawari token you have earned across all three programs: Node Operation Rewards (Early Operator Incentives and Network Monitoring Rewards), Activation Rewards, and Locking Rewards.

**Claimed tokens** — Reward Tokens you have actively claimed from the network into your wallet. Unclaimed accrued rewards do not count toward your locking ratio.

**Locked tokens** — Claimed tokens you have committed to the Mawari Network. Locked tokens build locking power and qualify you for the Locking Reward pool.

**Locking ratio** — The share of your total-ever-claimed tokens, net of gas fees, that you currently have locked. This is the number that sets your tier each day.

**Locking power** — A virtual figure, starting equal to your locked tokens, that grows by 0.5% / 0.6% / 0.7% per day depending on your tier. Your share of the daily Locking Reward pool is calculated from your locking power, not your raw locked balance.

**Daily participation rate** — The percentage by which your locking power grows each day, set by your current tier (Root, Grove, or Canopy).

**Grace period** — The 90-day window covering Months 1, 2, and 3, during which Activation Reward claims may be made out of order in time, but must still be claimed in sequence (Month 1 before Month 2, and so on).

## 7. Frequently Asked Questions

**Q: Do I need to claim Locking Rewards daily?**

A: No. They accrue continuously, and you can claim them whenever you like. They do not grow further until claimed and re-locked, so claiming and re-locking frequently grows your position faster.

**Q: If I miss a daily Locking Reward claim, do I lose it?**

A: No. Your share of each day’s pool accrues to your unclaimed balance and stays there until you claim it. Only Activation Rewards have time-limited claim windows.

**Q: Can I unlock at any time?**

A: Yes. Locked tokens can be unlocked at any time. The trade-off is that unlocking reduces your locked amount, which reduces your share of future Locking Rewards and may move you to a lower tier, or below the 70% Activation Reward threshold.

**Q: What happens if I sell some of my unlocked mawari tokens?**

A: Selling tokens that are not locked does not directly change your tier. What matters is the ratio of currently-locked tokens to your total-ever-claimed amount, and selling unlocked tokens does not change that ratio. But tokens you sell instead of locking are tokens that do not raise your ratio either.

**Q: Why does my total-ever-claimed figure keep rising even when I do not lock?**

A: Because every claim, including Locking Reward claims, adds to it. So the absolute amount you need locked to stay above 70%, 85%, or 100% grows over time. To hold a tier, you generally need to lock new claims as you receive them.

**Q: Can I be in a different tier on different days of the same month?**

A: Yes. Tiers are evaluated daily. If you start the month at Canopy, unlock partway through, and re-lock at the end, you will see different daily growth rates applied across those days, and your final locking power will reflect the blend.

**Q: What counts toward the 70% Activation Rewards threshold: Reward Tokens earned, or only those claimed?**

A: Claimed tokens. The threshold is measured against the total you have actively claimed into your wallet, net of gas fees. Unclaimed accrued rewards do not yet count.

**Q: I joined after Season 1. Am I shut out of the program?**

A: Not at all. You are not eligible for Activation Rewards, but you can fully participate in Node Operation Rewards and Locking Rewards, at all three tiers (Root, Grove, Canopy), based on how you lock.
